There are many tools that are the current industry standard for developing help systems including Adobe's Robohelp and the newer XHTML technology from the original developers of Robohelp called Madcap Flare. These tools are very effective in documentation of preparing end user support material of business and technical processes, such as online help, user guides, release notes, training materials and context sensitive help. I have also developed a Revision copy of policies so that all users know at a glance what each policy was in any given time frame. Of note: Robohelp 10 is now available and allows output to mobile devices,
I also have 25 years experience in design and implementation of electronic forms that can be server or web based, filled in online and electronically forwarded eliminating the cumbersome paper copies many companies currently use. The cost savings in utilizing server or web based manuals as well as electronic forms can save an enormous amount of time and money.
I am a member of the Society for Technical Communications, Mid-South Chapter which keeps me abreast of the newest technology and training in technical documentation. I also belong to several Special Interest Groups within this organization including Consulting and Independent Contracting as well as Policies and Procedures.
